Mrs. Taryn Dixon
I am excited to begin my fifth year as Principal of Promontory Heights Elementary Community School. This year we open with our new addition and I know that the new spaces are a welcome relief and will be well used.
I was born and raised in Chilliwack and have spent my career working in Chilliwack School District. When I'm not working I love to spend time with my husband, my two grown sons and my friends. Hiking, walking, cycling and reading are just a few of my favourite activities.
I have taught in several Elementary Schools and have also been a Vice Principal for 5 years and a principal for 17. I absolutely love what I do and feel blessed each day to come to a place where I get to spend my time with children helping them learn. Listening to them as they learn to read always brings a smile to my face.
I know that education of children is a team effort. I am looking forward to continuing the great work that has been going on over the last several years. I have recently been involved in some in depth work at creating systems in schools that will help meet the needs of all the students. It's exciting work and I do believe it is something that can make a difference for kids at every school.
I like spending time in the classrooms, helping out where possible. I have a positive outlook on life and tend to believe that optimism is contagious. My door is open and I hope you will drop in and introduce yourself.
Here's to a fantastic year! See you soon.
